Underground PD is an organization committed to delivering resources and coaching that will build students and schools from the ground up. Too much of professional development is impractical and not tied to the day to day work of teachers. Underground PD was founded to end this widespread waste of time, money, and effort.
What Makes Underground PD Different
It is a requirement for all Underground PD specialists to be actively working full-time in schools, either as teachers or counselors. This is not like typical professional development that is run by someone who, more than likely, couldn’t wait to run out of the classroom. Our specialists walk the walk every day, and they know first hand the challenges that go into our job.
Student Tutoring
We tutor students of all ages, specializing in early childhood and elementary literacy and math. Our tutors are trained in Orton-Gillingham "science of reading" strategies as well as "Algebra for All" math methods.

About our Founder
Dr. Ed Miller has dedicated his life to helping teachers and students. A graduate of New York City public schools, Ed holds a doctoral degree from Columbia University’s Teachers College, specializing in Curriculum and Teaching. He has been teaching at a New York City public elementary school since 2004 and teaching/mentoring/coaching pre-service and in-service teachers since 2007. From this experience, Ed has cultivated a system designed to help teachers and students grow professionally, while also feeling good about themselves and the work they are doing - a stark contrast to the majority of out of touch and/or soul-crushing professional development currently being offered. The result is Underground PD.
